WELCOME
(Leader/People)
Seekers and believers, people of faith,
and people of no faith at all,
no matter who you are,
no matter where you are on life’s journey…
You are welcome here.
OPENING PRAYER

*CALL TO WORSHIP
Despair lurks in the shadows,
but we have nothing to fear.
For there is a light that shines in the
darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it.
We come seeking that divine radiance,
the hope that pierces the gloom.
We see that light in Jesus,
and we recognize it in our lives, too.
For we are created in God's image:
And God's light is reborn in each of us.
So let us bring the joys and hardships
of life to worship, and celebrate the light
already with us and within us.
*GATHERING HYMN
Comfort, Comfort O My People
NCH (black) #101 vs. 1,2

“Comfort, comfort now my people,
tell of peace!” so says our God
Comfort those who sit in darkness
mourning under sorrow’s load
To God’s people now proclaim
that God’s pardon waits for them!
Tell them that their war is over,
God will reign in peace forever!
For the herald’s voice is crying
in the desert far and near
Calling us to true repentance
since the Kingdom now is here
Oh, that warning cry obey!
Now prepare for God a way!
Let the valleys rise in meeting,
and the hills bow down in greeting!

*CLOSING HYMN
We Yearn, O Christ, for Wholeness
NCH (black) #179, vs. 1, 3

We yearn, O Christ for wholeness
and for your healing touch;
Too long have we felt helpless,
our burdens seemed too much.
Forgetting all pretenses
we make our pleadings heard,
In hope and expectation
await your gracious Word.
We need your living presence,
O Christ of Galilee;
A presence that revives us
and sets our spirits free.
No longer are we fearful,
your love pervades each place.
Empower us with courage
to claim your healing grace.
