Paul did not start the church in Colossae, but he felt responsible for them. His letter to the Colossians addresses several issues dealing with authority in the church. It seems some leaders taught that the people must worship certain "spiritual rulers and authorities" and practice special rites in order to receive the fullness of God's grace. Paul lifts up the centrality of Christ and the sufficiency of Christ alone. This Sunday ends the Church year. It used to be called "Christ the King Sunday" Its importance hasn't changed, but we often call it "The Reign of Christ Sunday." What does it mean today for the Risen Christ to reign in our hearts and in our church? How are we to understand that authority in the context of all our other allegiances?
This weekend we continue with Sharing Our Story Part 2: Our Vision for the Future. As we anticipate our church's 150th anniversary, staff changes and a possible capital campaign, we need your input. Please plan on attending one of the sessions listed below. Child care is provided during all sessions.
